Group Financial Controller

SystemsAccountants is looking to hire a Group Controller to support our international businesses. You will lead an accounting team and have the autonomy to drive business processes for the SystemsAccountants Group.
The role will include (but is not limited to) the following tasks for all businesses within the group:
Management & month end reporting
- Perform periodic reviews of month end accounts for each entity across the group to ensure accuracy
- Work with the Group Management Accountant to meet agreed deadlines and ensure timely and accurate reporting to the CFO and wider business
- Work with CFO to ensure reporting packs are in line with business requirements and implement any required changes
- Identify and implement process and systems improvements to enhance the month end close procedure
- Hands on help to the team to deliver month end where required
- Work with the team to identify and address variances to budget
Budgeting & forecasting
- Working with department heads and CFO to prepare annual budget
- Ongoing liaison with the business to approve spend in accordance with the budget and assess new spending requirements where necessary
- Ongoing maintenance of the budget model to ensure accurate forecasting, ensuring regular and accurate upload in the finance system for reporting purposes (Netsuite)
- Approval of business spend in accordance with budget
- Variance investigation and management
- Oversee group forecasting spreadsheet used by the sales teams
Cashflow & cash management
- Weekly Payment approvals and authorisations
- Weekly cash flow management & reporting
- Monthly cashflow forecast reporting including actual vs forecast balance analysis
- Monitoring of cash balances to ensure compliance with all bank covenants
- Management of FX exposure and transfers
Payroll & HR Support
- Approval & finance onboarding of new hires across the business in line with budget
- Review and approve group payroll processing for accuracy to ensure all new joiners / leavers and other adjustments are included
- Review and approve monthly commissions and bonus calculations prepared by the team
- Ensure team meet all deadlines for payroll processing and payment, including payroll tax submissions
- Work with the Group HR Manager to address benefit requirements across the group and provide cost analysis.
- Support team with management of pension scheme administration
- Work with external legal teams where required to process visa applications and renewals for new or existing employees.
- Ad hoc assistance with employee’s personal payroll tax queries including information collation for Director SATRs
Corporation tax & sales tax management
- Review and co-ordination of taxation liabilities and payments across group
- Manage relationship with external accountants & tax advisors and ensure all tax payments and submissions made on a timely basis
- Assist CFO with Tax planning for the group
- Ongoing financial analysis to identify and investigate tax risks arising from increased revenues, expanding geographical locations and new employees
Line management
- Line management responsibility for finance team of 6
- Ad hoc training and support of team as required
- Annual / ad hoc appraisals where required and assessment of ongoing training needs within the team
- Holiday approvals
- Agree and prepare bonus schemes for the team and monitor performance against key performance indicators
- Monitor workload across the team and identify current or potential recruitment needs
- Work with Group HR Manager to run recruitment processes for any new hires within the team
Other responsibilities
- Finance business partner to the sales teams across the group dealing with ad hoc queries commercially
- Manage group insurances including manage relationship with insurance providers to process renewals and discuss new insurance requirements to manage business risks as required
- Act as the point person for the finance / contracts & compliance teams to resolve complex contract queries
- Oversee the annual audit for the Group with assistance of Group Management Accountant
- Ad hoc projects and research as required by the CFO
Projects
- Assist with research and implementation of new budgeting tool
- Assist with research and implementation of cash forecasting system
- Assist with implementation of replacement CRM vis a vis ERP integration
- Ongoing Research & implementation of process and systems improvements
Candidate must have the following skills / experience / qualifications:
- Dynamic approachable character with previous team management experience
- Qualified ACA / ACCA / CIMA with experience in a similar role in a service-based industry
- Experience in a global business and reporting in multiple currencies
- Advanced Excel skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Strong general IT skills
- Excellent work ethic

- Ability to manage own workload
The following skills are also desirable but not essential:
- Experience of recruitment / consultancy-based services businesses (highly desirable)
